LGV Nord: Modernization work completed in Avelin (59)
The Eiffage Rail teams have once again successfully completed the replacement of switches and crossings on the LGV Nord high-speed line in the Avelin area.
This project, carried out on behalf of SNCF Réseau, marks a further step in the continuous modernization of the network.
Around one hundred employees and partners were mobilized for this operation, which involved the replacement of four switches with a 1/46 tangent.
All work was performed overnight, between the last train of the evening and the first of the morning, to ensure no disruption to transport services.
The project was executed in several key stages:
- End of 2025: Assembly of the four switches and track panels.
- January 2026: Preparatory works.
- February - March: Removal of the old installations and ballast renewal.
- April: Installation of four new switches.
- April - May: Consolidation and adjustment works.
As of this Saturday morning, June 6th, the TGV is once again operating at 300 km/h on this section, confirming the effectiveness of the interventions.
The next phase of operations on the LGV Nord will take place in Rœux (62) at the end of 2026.
